JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is a Japanese manga (later adapted in to an anime and a video game series) written, illustrated and created by Hirohiko Araki and published by Shueisha.

The series is extremely popular in Japan and well known among Smashers because of its memes and quality.

Story arcs

Each story arc has a different protagonist nicknamed JoJo, usually because of the reoccurance of Jo in their names.

  • Part I: Phantom Blood - Set in the late 19th century in England, this arc is about a young man named Jonathan Joestar who goes on an adventure with Robert EO Speedwagon and William Zeppeli to defeat his adopted brother, Dio Brando, who has became a powerful vampire.
  • Part II: Battle Tendency - The main protagonist is Joseph Joestar, the grandson of Jonathan and a young British-American, who goes on an adventure to defeat the Pillar Men, the creators of the Stone Mask that was used to turn Dio Brando into a vampire.
  • Part III: Stardust Crusaders - In this arc, Jotaro Kujo, grandson of Joseph, travels around the world with his grandfather, Joseph, Polnareff, Kakyoin, Avdol and Iggy to defeat the still alive Dio Brando, now referred to as DIO. This arc introduces Stands, spiritual manifestations of the characters which have specific abilites.
  • Part IV: Diamond Is Unbreakable/Diamond Is Not Crash - The story of Josuke Higashikata,(Can be said as Jo-Su-Ke Hi-Ga-Shi-Ka-Jo) the bastard child of Joseph Joestar, and his adventures in the town of Morioh with his friends.
  • Part V: Vento Aureo (Golden Wind) - Taking place in Italy, Giorno Giovanna, one of the sons of Dio Brando, wishes to become a gangstar and joins Passione, an Italian Mafia with a mysterious boss.
  • Part VI: Stone Ocean - The last story in the original timeline. The story is about Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro Kujo, who escapes from prison.
  • Part VII: Steel Ball Run - The first story in the second timeline. It takes place in the late 19th century once again, where Johnny Joestar and his friend Gyro race across America in the Steel Ball Run.
  • Part VIII: JoJolion - Set in an alternate universe Morioh after an earthquake, an amnesiac named Josuke Higashikata is found under a rock.

A meme based off the "To be continued" logo shown at the end of every episode of the anime adaptation (appears in manga adaptation too, but is more inspired by how the anime shows it) of Jojo. In the first 2 parts of the anime it would start the song "Roundabout" by Yes starting before cutting to the To be continued logo.

A meme about Dio's notorious battle cry, "WRYYY", and his stand name, The World. In Stardust Crusaders, Dio stops time using his stand, drops a steamroller (referred to as the road roller) and uses his battle cry. This was made popular by videos of stick figures doing the same.

Duwang is the Chinese pronounciation of Morioh, the main location JJBA part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable takes place in. This meme originates from terrible English translations of Diamond Is Unbreakable made by Chinese students for an English project.

"It was me, Dio!" is a quote from Dio Brando associated with a screenshot of Dio from the 2012 Phantom Blood adaptation, where he steals the first kiss of Jonathan's girlfriend (Erina Pendleton) to make Jonathan's life even more miserable. After he kisses Erina, Dio says the line “So, did you kiss JoJo yet? Probably not. Your first wasn’t JoJo! It was me, Dio!”.

Another popular quote from antagonist Dio Brando. William Zeppeli asks Dio Brando how many people he killed to restore his severe burn injuries from his previous battle with Jonathan, and Dio answers with "I don't know, how many loaves of bread have you eaten in your life?" which probably means too many.

King Crimson/It Just Works

King Crimson is a stand featured in Part V. It's ability is skipping time with everyone but it's user unaware of it. Due to the bad quality of translations and the fact that most of the fights starring this stand feature complex layouts, the ability has caused a lot of confusion. The meme comes from fans attempting to explain how the stand works, the most common explanation simply being "It just works".

This Is The Taste Of A Liar

A quote which comes from Bruno Buccellati in Part V, where Bruno is accusing Giorno with the assault of Leaky-Eye Luka. Bruno licks Giorno's sweat, saying that he has the taste of a liar, as the sweat of a liar apparently tastes sweeter than that of one telling the truth.

Awaken My Masters

A quote from Wamuu, one of the antagonists of Part II and Pillar Men, during the awakening of him and his masters', It is associated with their pose in the scene and the song "Awaken from the 2012 adaptation.

Five Dios In Eyes Of Heaven

Five Dios in Eyes of Heaven is a joke about five versions of Dio (including part 1 Dio Brando, part 3 DIO, Diego Brando, alternate universe Diego Brando with The World and Heaven Dio) appearing in JoJo video game JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven.

Dio and 7-Up is a joke about Dio and the drink 7-Up, originating from a product placement in the Stardust Crusaders OVA series.

It's Finally A Friday

It's Finally A Friday are edited images from three panes of part 3, used by JoJo fans after waiting a long time for something, typically episodes of the JoJo anime.

Stand Cries

Stand Cries are quotes from stands, most notably "ORA ORA ORA" and "MUDA MUDA MUDA". Stands usually use these cries during combat, with an example being Jotaro and Dio's stands shouting "ORA ORA ORA" and "MUDA MUDA MUDA" while rapidly punching.
