Groose is a character from The Legend of Zelda Series. He first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, as a resident of Skyloft, and serves as Link's rival at the beginning of the game. He is jealous of Link, because of his close relationship to Zelda. Throughout the course of the game, Groose becomes Link's friend and a helpful ally, helping the Hero defeat Demise and Ghirahim.

Groose starts off as a pompous and arrogant citizen of Skyloft, who along with his lackeys Cawlin and Strich, enter the Wing Ceremony in Skyloft. He loses to Link, and becomes bitter about it. When Zelda is kidnapped, he becomes distressed, but soon feels like it's his duty to save her. Near the end of the game, Groose assists Link in the fight against The Imprisoned.

Groose's personality and the comic relief he provides has made him very popular on the internet and on Miiverse. Several internet memes of him have spawned, including "The Groose is Loose" and "Groose's theme goes with Everything."

"The Groose is loose" is a meme started by Vinesauce (Vinny) during one of his Tomodachi Life streams. Soon it slowly became popular on Miiverse because of Vinesauce viewers mentioning it. It has to do with the iconic hero Groose letting himself loose. Groose also got a song out of it.
